Charleston VA prepares for annual All Employee Survey

It’s time once again for the annual All Employee Survey. The 2014 Charleston VA Medical Center’s All Employee Survey will be conducted for three weeks from Sept. 8 through 29. The survey may be taken anonymously online or a paper survey may be requested from any of the Union offices. The link to take the survey and login code will be provided to employees by the opening date for the AES.

“Every employee is encouraged to participate in AES,” said Vicki Johnson, AES coordinator for 2014. “We want every voice to be heard so we can all work together to move forward. Without employee input there is no moving forward.”

Johnson said scores from last year were great, at 61.8 percent, but there is always room for improvement.

Fred Lesinski, co-coordinator for this year’s AES, said that now more than ever it’s important for our employees to complete the survey.

“There’s a new VA Secretary who needs to know what we’re thinking,” said Lesinski. “It’s at that level that big organizational changes can be made, but only if we all speak up about not only changes that could be made, but also about what we’re doing right so we can retain those good practices.”

Lesinski added that completing the survey to reveal needed changes for our own VA Medical Center is one purpose of the AES, but also to help bring about change for other VA medical centers across the country.

“Happy employees are productive employees,” said Johnson. “The All Employee Survey is much more than just another questionnaire. You spend the majority of your time at work so why wouldn’t you try and make it as good of an experience as possible? By taking the survey you can help make improvements for our facility and for yourself.”
