National Healthcare Food Service Workers Week honors each member of the dedicated, hard working food service staff at Ralph H. Johnson VAMC. This week promotes nutrition and food services as an integral aspect of healthcare.

After all, food is medicine and food service is a core component in the delivery of healthcare.  At Charleston VAMC over 300 meals are served each day. Nutrition and Food Service also supplies tube feeding products and replenishes nourishment rooms on the inpatient units.

The core philosophy of healthcare is to deliver healing, wellness and peace of mind. Healthcare food service professionals are continually finding ways to improve customer satisfaction, think creatively, focus on innovation, tap into critical resources and institute the best practices that ensure satisfaction standards are being met and exceeded.
