Hinesville Primary Care Clinic celebrates 1st anniversary
When Charleston VAMC opened a temporary clinic last July in Hinesville, Ga. just outside the Ft. Stewart gate it was expected to be a busy place. But just how busy the clinic is surpassed all expectations.
In its first year Hinesville Primary Care Clinic has provided more than 4,000 outpatient visits to some 2,400 Veterans in Liberty County. The team, which consists of two physicians, two registered nurses, three licensed practical nurses, a pharmacist, a social worker, a health tech and two administrative staff continues to see more and more Veterans at their clinic.
“We are getting new patients every day.” Nurse Manager Janet Triplett, RN said. “The Veterans, community and staff are all very excited about the clinic opening and I think it’s a great thing.”
Construction is expected to begin in FY2013 on the Hinesville CBOC according to Richard Mahon, Chief of Strategic Planning and Analysis. Once opened, this facility will provide care for some 7,200 Veterans in what is one of the fastest-growing Veteran population areas along the South Carolina and Georgia coast. Patients currently seen at the temporary clinic will continue their care with their provider at the permanent location.
The Hinesville PCC is holding an open house for Veteran patients on July 6 to celebrate their 1st anniversary.
